hey there dudey.

Before I get started lets clear up some basic issues here. (I'm using
OSX 10.4.9 Tiger so it might work differently so be try be patient
with my tips)
When I installed locomotive it was very simple. Locomotive is a quick
installation rather than the more advanced terminal based
installation process, which ruby, rails and mysql require. (a
slightly more time consuming process)
(1) - Download locomotive here. http://locomotive.raaum.org/
*Perhaps your installation went a bit wrong, so follow these steps to
double check!!

(2) - If you want a more powerful version of ruby: follow Hivelogic's
step by step tutorial.... this requires a 15 min installation
process, well, only if you have all the install files!! http://
hivelogic.com/narrative/articles/ruby-rails-mongrel-mysql-osx

(3) - Another good example or set of resources is Sofamade. http://
sofamade.com/2006/12/26/running-mephisto-on-os-x- here they list
additional apps required to run ruby on your machine. (You can ignore
the part about Mephisto)

Important system checks: have you installed Apache, Subversion or
Mysql? Is your root correct? (If you need Apache Google it.)

I needed Apache on my system in order for anything to work. So follow
those steps and you should be fine.

Note: Hivelogics steps are so very easy, and also help set up the
full ruby environment, rather than just locomotive without hassle.

Good luck
